It is against the law in WA state to insure illegal activity. Any illegal activity, not just gun related. So the fact that the carry guard policy paid insurance money to policy holders who plead guilty or were convicted of a illegal activity, in addition to those found not guilty is what made these policies illegal in WA. It's similar to the way that personal liability insurance excludes crimnal activity. If a guy slips in your house and hits his head, your're covered. If you criminally shoot a guy in the head in your house, your personal liability insurance wont pay any settlement against you.
