CPT (Join to see) Establish a culture of respect for each other and compliance for basic rules of civility in society. Reinforce these values and beliefs via education and support for these values. Separate from general society those who prove by prior actions they can't play by the rules. The principle of community policing are important to gaining these values and support for the basic rules.

The good news is crime is way, way down from what I remember. How to keep it going down?

More understanding, economic opportunities for those that need it, decriminalizing things that probably shouldn't be crimes, stop trapping people in debt (extremely sickening when municipalities prey on low income residents and then use the power of the legal system to lock up those that can't pay).

Lots of things that can be done, but there will always be some crime. We just have to give as little motivation for it as possible and that includes acknowledging that people less fortunate than us are valuable too and deserve all the opportunities and respect our communities can provide.

Would you agree the unlimited access to "cheap" student aid drowns millions in a lifetime of debt. This is led by the government subsidizing this student aid.

CPT (Join to see) - Yes, there are a whole bunch of issues to unpack there:
- The cultural downplaying of trade schools when they are a good (and quite frankly less expensive) path to a decent career for many
- The extreme rate on increase in higher education making huge loans hard to avoid if you do go to college.
- The government subsidizing granting of those huge loans when there is a high risk of inability to repay. Of course that in turn feeds more rate increases in higher education.

Our higher education is critical to our country but have instead turned it into a way for a few senior people in the institutions to become very wealthy while driving many people into debt they will never be able to repay chasing jobs that may never materialize.

Crime for over 25 years was on the decline. That trend appears to be ending. Is this a blip or our new normal? Hard to say. It is clear that violence is becoming a way of life for too many. My opinion is that we will see a steady increase in the coming years. Criminals are emboldened, we are accepting violence on the streets in the name of protest (do I really need to list the cities for you?). Violence begets violence.

We need to be careful in a civilized society about how much violence we allow/tolerate. It sets precedent and allows for the next lowering of a standard. The other reality is the violent crime tends to be mostly in major urban areas in the country.

You might ask yourself how can this be. The economy is doing so well, we are all so much better off etc. The reality is we are being mislead in significant ways about the reality in the economy and the situation in the country at large.
