I remember Christmas in Vietnam 1966. It isn't something I will discuss. Too many bad memories. But this story is a good Christmas story. I think you'll find it enjoyable. I'm sure some of you have Christmas stories from being deployed to the Middle East.
A simple gesture for a buddy made a deployed Christmas memorable.
We’d been in country since the second week of December. We had completed riding shotgun with our predecessors and had fully taken over our duties from them. I was one of the convoy commanders for runs to the airfield. The other guy had perfect teeth. We called him Chompers. We’d switch out every few days.

I remember seeing many Photo's coming Back from Viet Nam with a C-7 caribou painted in Santa colors ... Until the Air force took them away from the army and the GI's painted a kangaroo on the tail and the AF left it alone thinking it was and Australian Bird working with 5th Group...
I remember sending folks stationed in the 'Sand Boxes" strings of Battery Powered Christmas Lights despite the Command frowning on the use of Christmas decorations...
