But they don't know how McKnight got his information. IF there is just one case of a government employees data being used, isn't it possible they stole it from another source? If the entire database is out there I would assume a lot more than one person would be using it and they would impersonate more than one person.

The value of millions of PII....I think they would sell cheap and use more. BUT, it could also be a message from the Chinese saying we can give this to criminals to monetize...USA needs to follow CH directions.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint - That's possible, but I still don't see any thing close to proof that the OPM hacked data is the source of this identity theft. Just that the victim of the identity theft also had data in the OPM system. But there have been other large scale hacking such as the Equifax data breech that could be the source of this identity theft.
