Cross-border talks are have been taking place since the Armistice was signed into effect, but these talks have either born no fruit or the fruits have been swiped away by the DPRK.

The DPRK came for talks to twist the ROK into building light water reactors in the North. The Hyundai Group built those reactors in the DPRK.

The DPRK came to the table to talk with the ROK and 500 head of cattle were driven by the ROK across the MDL, as essayed by the DPRK, in violation of the Armistice.

The DPRK were at the table to talk, when the UNC wanted to revive the Return of Remains of Fallen Comrades, as stipulated in the Armistice. The DPRK agreed on it's terms only, at a cost of $43,000 per set of bones. The recovery teams had to ingress and egress from the DPRK thru Pyongyang versus Panmunjom, which is stipulated in the Armistice.

Now; the DPRK is ready to take and I am confident it comes at a price, which the ROK will pay and charge back those payments to the U.S.

The DPRK does things with a purpose and the sanctions have probably started drying up it's reserves. This situation is like when the DPRK came for talks with the UNC to extend the MDL into the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan, with the intent of claiming Okinawa and expanding the DPRK fishing space. Once the UNC rejected that proposal, the DPRK threatened dire consequences against the U.S. for playing war games in which it was the victim.

It is almost impossible for me to believe that the DPRK is willing to talk without selfish motives. The Olympics is only a facade.
