Happy National Airborne Day, LTC (Join to see)! This photo of me is just prior to a Hollywood fun jump for a civilian demonstration during the Weapons NCO Supervisor Candidate Special Forces Course, Fort Bragg, NC, JUN70. Many times we were offered the choice to jump or perform a duty detail. Believe it or not, some guys would actually perform the detail, but jumping was an easy choice for me!

MSG Pat Colby, many don't realize that in 1970, Saturday was still a half duty day (don't know when that ended). The guys that elected to perform a detail (pitiful soldiers as far as I'm concerned) were guaranteed to be released at noon. For those electing to jump, the sergeants would always say we'd be done by one or two in the afternoon. Like you stated, though, it always took the better part of the day. After awhile, we all knew that, but most of us still always wanted to jump!

Hoooah! Think I'll hobble down stairs and do a PLF off the porch......ah no, grass is wet and the motrin hasn't kicked in yet.

Jumping was the most fun thing I did in the Army, LTC (Join to see)! Not all of them, of course, but in general, this was the most fun! CSM Richard StCyr
