But the Donald doesn’t know her. His buddy just paid her the money out of the goodness of his heart…. Uh huh

if having affairs was grounds for disqualifying someone for public office - then we wouldn't have politicians

It's NOT about an adulterous affair of someone running for public office. Issue is about origins, channels and connections to hush money.

There are specific laws about how spending for political campaigns are to be tracked. National Enquirer must pay a fine because it paid Karen McDougal for legal rights to a story about Trump during his candidacy. It lied about future publication in order to keep her silent.

Harvard Law Review blog post about FEC's role is pasted below

LTC Eugene Chu - again - if we investigated every politician, audited all their financials - dug deep into their charitable contributions, there will be hush money somewhere, and no politicians. My god, how have Americans been living under rocks regarding the political sleaze rampant within the halls of political power. This shit has been going on since before Tamany Hall.
