Service is service. You pull soldiers away from their civilian jobs and families then you should give them what is owed whether it’s the border, DC, or the sand box.

I have a stupid question. Does not basic and AIT count toward the 90 days accrual?

Not a stupid question Sir and I wonder just how many days they get credit for. Most were only there for a week or so and if you need 90 days, this is like pissing in the wind.

Yeah I know several soldiers who were mobilized for covid 19 efforts (some went twice) but both times their orders were under 30 days. Not sure how the VA will handle those days. Last I knew it had to be 180 days continuous mob of deployment to be considered a veteran. I believe this active duty days count towards their total days of active duty towards retirement though so it’s not all for nothing. MAJ Byron Oyler

Part time service = part time benefits I guess. I’m kind of used to it as a reservist. Not a perfect or always fair situation, but I’m just happy to serve. MAJ Ken Landgren
