By Presidential Proclamation 2276 on March 21, 1938, Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed April 13 as a day to celebrate the birth of Thomas Jefferson. Then again on April 11, 2007, Presidential Proclamation 8124 by President George W. Bush commemorated the same day at Thomas Jefferson Day.

This country would not be where it is with out Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. Yes, Washington helped win the war, but these two men spent their whole lives dedicated to protecting the rights of those in this country. It is also amazing to note that they both passed away within 6 hours of each other on the 4th of July.
