So commanding early weeds out some of those that could have screwed up later if they hadn't had the opportunity of command yet. Sounds about right.

I was about raise the Big BS Flag but this a matter of semantics. I concur that Navy and Air Force and more Technically Oriented and because that is the concentration of our efforts they are not as concerned about the Command Grooming Early as those that have to field large amount of Troops. You really have to dig into it to see what is being discussed here.

I don't necessarily agree with the Headline but I will concur that those I served under were Primarily, Scientist, Engineers and Technicians. Nature of what I did as a Cryptologic Technician, Naval Communicator and Staff Master at Arms.

GySgt John Olson - You got something there Gunny. By the time I reported to my First Ship as a Very Experienced Gold Hashmark wearing CTO1 I was a Newbie to the Real Nautical Community. First 2/3 of my Career was ashore working with and for, Scientist, Astronauts, Engineers and Technicians. Many Thanks to the Salty Dogs that Taught me to be a "Real" Sailor.
