I commented on this on an earlier post taken from another source. There is absolutely more to this than is being reported. Think about it. A seaman deuce has the entire weight of the Bonnie Dick lowered on him? As an old DCA who has fought more shipboard fires than I can count, something smells here. How about the contractor's fire marshal? The port engineer? The ship's Safety Officer, the DCA, the Chief Engineer (CHENG), the Commanding Officer, EVERY SINGLE OFFICER AND CHIEF PETTY OFFICER assigned to that ship. We lost a new capital ship because of an E-2? Maybe he struck the match, but the above listed stacked up the woodpile. What is going on with my Navy?

That is very true. Thus, the frustration.
I recall a heated senior managers meeting in Denver that came to a stop when I commented "Most civilians only do one thing their whole life. You'd think they'd be better at it". Probably could have phrased that differently.
