I was thinking the same thing, could be justified, but I can't find a story on this. Lol, maybe a get the fuck off my yard kinda thing, hard to judge anyone's actions without knowing the whole story.

Thus the problem so many people have with "stand your ground" laws. The castle doctrine only applies to within the home, so there's a pretty clear line someone has to cross. Stand your ground, depending on the specific jurisdiction, can mean any time you feel threatened. This is highly problematic, as a sidewalk is public property even though the grass along the curb is not.
