When I had just picked up Cpl and was 6 months out from EAS, I was placed as acting Plt Sgt for our remain behind HQ platoon. There was this one new guy who had been busted to Private and placed on restriction, and it came to my attention that he was avoiding checking in in the mornings. Kid played stupid, said he thought this wasn't required. I was about to throw a tree's worth of paperwork at him, but then I was told that as I had signed off on our accountability being 100% (not even aware he was supposed to be in my platoon) that if I did this I would get fried too. I wonder who was supposed to keep accountability for this navy guy?
