This should be screened during the DEP program. Recruiting needs to focus on quality and not quanity.

Sort of short sited on the Navy's part to me. I commanded a training compay in the early 80's. One of the recruits looked like the Pillsbury doughboy. 5'7" or so. Weighed about 170 lbs. Couldn't do PT worth crap. I had the feeling he wasn't going to make through training. One day as he was leaving the mess hall, I asked where he wanted to go after OSUT. He replied, "Airborne school, SIR!" Knocked me out of my boots. But my Drills were the best. By the end of the course, he'd lost about 40 pounds and had to have uniforms reissued three times. And could almost run rings around some of the drill sergeants.

Ummm am I the only one that thinks 16 min is crazy.... 12 min is for alpha males currently Why not just make it closer to that? 13. No more than 14. If you want to join the navy you should be fit. USNA males (ALL MALES) have to complete the run in 1030.
