Nebraska's law banning gender-affirming care for minors impacts its LGBTQ community

Hate me, berate me. The medical transition to minors, even with parental consent should be illegal. Any surgery that is elective, and can have side effects, at the least dying on the table is wrong. Children should not be put in harms way for surgery unless it is required. After they turn 18, and have insurance that covers the transition and long term treatment that goes along with, so be it. It is an adult decision, made as an adult with all available information to inform.

Freedom is free, endangering a child’s life, while subjecting them to ridicule, hazing and other ignorant treatment before their minds can process what is going on is not right. Parents should hold the line and government needs to weigh in on behalf of the children. Parents have every right in the world to support these transitions, the should not be the catalyst for that transition.
