Thank you, my friend SSG(P) (Join to see) for making us aware about the training rollout of Tier 2 Tactical Combat Casualty Care
"Soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines might all soon have new training on how to save their buddy’s life in the first critical minutes of injury in combat.
That’s because the curriculum, known as Tier 2 Tactical Combat Casualty Care, could become the new, uniform standards of methods taught to troops with non-medical jobs if approved by the Pentagon.
The Pentagon directed the new standardized care, which consists of four levels of skill, all aimed at the initial response that troops can provide in combat scenarios, according to an Army statement. A recommended plan will be sent to the Pentagon at the end of December.
The TCCC would replace Combat Lifesaver Training, pulling in the most up-to-date medical lessons learned from the past two decades of combat, said Army Lt. Col. Ethan Miles, chairman of the Tier2/Combat Lifesaver Working Group."

I'm scratching my head on this. I took CLS last year and it was already TCCC based and exactly as the "new" training is described.

I was also confused CH (CPT) (Join to see) as I just took CLS at the end of October and I felt it was also as the new training is described.

SSG(P) (Join to see) Maybe they meant to say the Army is considering requiring more Soldiers to take the tier 2 course (CLS) rather than just the 2 hour overview everyone currently gets?

CH (CPT) (Join to see) not sure sir. From what I read it sounds like this new training will be the across the board standard for non-medical SMs for all services.

No worries CH (CPT) (Join to see) , as a CLS you still have to recertify every so often, then whatever is new you’ll get it or simply a repeated course.
