Despite continuing protests and widespread international condemnation of the coup, Myanmar's military shows no sign of relenting or of releasing those it has detained, among them the country's de facto leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.

Dr.Win Naing is the London-based international spokesman for the opposition National League for Democracy. He fled Myanmar in 1990 after the crackdown following the 1988 coup.
