During Mayor Faulconers term as Mayor, the State of California and the City of San Diego have implemented number of burdensome laws to limit the ways in which faith communities and non-profit organizations can engage in efforts to address homelessness in our City.
For instance, California Assembly Bill 2178 restricts the ability of thousands of non-profits and faith communities from being able to prepare meals for homeless communities without meeting a long list of requirements including permits, ensuring the food is prepared in a commercial kitchen, and other requirements. The Union Tribune reported at the beginning of the year that this law had caused the San Diego non-profit Deliverance to cease its operations.
The City of El Cajon passed an emergency ordinance in 2018 that made it illegal to feed the homeless in public, leading to twelve individuals being given citations from the El Cajon Police Department.

Here in OKLAHOMA we have feed the children. Our church has a food bank that if you are below the financial stipulations you can receive free food for the amount of people in your household once a month. This helps the poor in our community. A family of 4 with an income less then $3,000 a month can receive food that can help sustain them for a month. We stock can goods, milk, meats, rice, potatoes, beans, cereals, eggs, breads, fresh vegetables. juices. Each baptist church that has a food pantry has a 10 to 12 mile radius that people living in that area are able to use us. They don't have to belong to the church to be given food. All they have to have is a need and fall within the financial means.
