Matthew 5:17 says it all my friend.
Christ's mission here was to provide a direct path to salvation for those willing to both believe, and obey the spirit of God's laws. Charity is definitely part of that law, as is humility, compassion, and temperance.
Here's what's not... perversion, vengeance, recklessness, disorder, and denial.
"Progressive" Christianity gets a lot "right"... and the "Conservative" movement admittedly gets a lot "wrong". However, speaking as Christian who still believes every word of the Gospel to be true; there's always a "third" choice: Be in this world, without being part of this world.

Yes, and we don't get to nitpick the parts we do and don't like. God's Word is our handbook for faith and life, and we don't get to toss out the parts that aren't "socially-acceptable".
