Just updating the contingency plans in light of current events.
I think a lot of this news is being purposefully released to give the Iranians pause, not because we really want a confrontation. They can talk jive, but we would smash their capacity to launch offensive operations in a matter of days, and the Mullahs know it.

It states the following:
"The plan, which does not call for a land invasion of Iran, was ordered in part by national security adviser John Bolton."
Bolton has only been in his position since 2018, so I'd assume that it's fairly new if it was ordered by him.

SPC Angela Burnham you don’t get the point. CENTCOM already has a plan. Bolton just asked for it. I’ve done military planning for several COCOMs. They have several plans we may or may not ever use.
