Military Plans New $435 Million Health Facility at Guantánamo Bay
MY SAY: While serving as the ranking US Army Medical Department officer with the Joint Detainee Operations Group, Joint Task Force 160 at the US military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, I visited this hospital occasionally and found it quaint. Never used for detainees, it had free range chickens and other critters around it, some staff housing and service areas. Replacing it is long overdue. Saying the plan to replace the the hospital doesn't include provisions for aging detainees (mislabeled 'prisoners' by author, Carol Rosenberg) is disingenuous. Since my time at Gitmo in 2002 detainee special care personnel have been flown into the base. Detainees receive world class health, dental and vision care. Gitmo is the finest military detention facility on earth. We could compare it to how our enemies treat their captives, but that would be nearly impossible, as they rarely if ever keep captives at all. In fact, there is no moral comparison between Gitmo and how our enemies treat their captives. The MSM will never make this comparison, nor tell you how well treated the unlawful combatant Islamists who want to kill us are cared for.
