Recently in North Idaho the federal government on behest of the VA attempted to disarm a local Vietnam veteran. The attempt end because locals including the Sheriff stood in his yard and blocked it.

This is really the same thing as the other thread about the VA, but actually applies to other medical databases. This will allow them to share info on those ruled mentally incompetent the way the VA dies now. As for the Case in Idaho, Of course the little protest didnt actually change anything. As the vet says at the end of that incident, he believes it was done by mistake and is going to appeal it. If he had contacted the VA for his appeal first, as the letter says to do if you disagree with the ruling, rather than simply doing nothing, he may have had this resolved by now.

LTC (Join to see) They are different one refers to the Brady Act and the other refers to a modification of HIPPA to allow reporting to NICS.

CPT (Join to see) - yes, but what Imeant was that the underlying issue is the same. Previously the states, or even the social security administration, could not report those people designated as requiring a caretaker due to mental incompetence because of the HIPPA privacy laws. So by waiving the HIPPA rules, those other agencies can report the same info as the VA currently does. Unfortunately, the same problem with the VA reporting will exist in some of the new reporting in terms of not distiguishing between types of incompetence.

anyone notice the Sheriff stood in his yard thing?? Did anyone know a Sheriff can arrest any federal agents in his county enforce any laws? If the sheriff "don't wish to enforce" such laws.
Sheriff is the most powerful elected official in United States (constitutional power), they are THE law enforcer of the land. Many states are still like this, but some states stupid enough to amended it to allow the Gov to fire an elected Sheriff ( fire an elected official ...aren't that weird?).
I know the above "speech" is off topic of the HIPAA & disarming thing. But my lesson to all who read this. "The only antidote for corruption, is to keep the power as close as possible to the people themselves". That is why sheriff is empowered to the level of a "LOCAL" king since the creation of it. Because the sheriff is the closest elected official to the people (in law enforcement).
