Ohio voters will decide Issue 1 Aug. 8. Here's what a supporter and opponent have to say about it...

Personally I am voting YES. I don't want a bunch of Loonies that barely reach a majority (50% +1) to be able to change the state constitution.
The Opposition have been campaigning on the lie that if it passes the peoples vote doesn't count and Ohioans will loose the right to a majority vote wins. It really just makes it tougher to change the state constitution If you look at the big 3 cities (Columbus, Cleveland, and Cinncinatti) with very little additional support they could pass an amendment as it stands now.
It also requires signatures from more counties to get an amendment on the ballot. Currently they only have to have signatures from 44 counties, Ohio has 88, so half the counties.
