While the story is a few years old, it was recently on a program on the History channel and the journey of this 200 ton artillery piece was just amazing. This weapon could throw a 1 ton projectile! It had to travel from Britain to the Netherlands to be on display at a museum there. Because of the weight of the piece, it had to be taken apart, put on trucks, driven to a port, loaded on a boat, cross the water, and then make it's way on the narrow streets of Netherlands. Once there, they had to squeeze it into place and put it back together again.
Today, we just launch misslies from a boat in the middle of the ocean but back in the early 1900s, when you had a message to send, nothing sent it like a railroad gun!

SGT Ben Keen - was actually thinking about that reading- my second thought is standing behind it somewhere. Knocked on your ass or no?

Maj Marty Hogan - I think it would do more than knock you on your ass if you stood too close. I was watching another program that featured this weapon and it showed film when the Germans deployed them during WWII and the whole thing would ride backward on the tracks and had to be pushed back into position. Definitely want to make your back blast area is clear before setting this one off.
