When you go to a doctor's office and the first question they ask is are you in pain, they're already prescribing you a pain pill in their minds. We need to get out of the business of trying to make every pain free. Second, stop prescribing more than a few pills to get you over the hump. I had deviated septum surgery last year and I was given 30 days of Oxycontin pills for pain. I took one and that was it - they made me to loopy to continue taking them. I took the pain and help plenty of help from ice packs. But, we've grown into a society riddled with pain and we look for the quick fix to get us over that pain. The big Pharma companies are the ones that got us addicted to this type of treatment but they're aren't being held accountable enough.
