Out of the Shadows – The Wild Weasels (Part 3 of 7)

The Wild Weasels were F105G aircraft whose crew was a USAF pilot and an Electronic Warfare Officer who had been trained in the Electronic Officers Course at Mather AFB in California. The crew’s mission was to escort USAF fighter-bomber crews when they penetrated North Vietnamese airspace and attack air defense radar and missile sites with AN/AGM-45 SHRIKE anti-radiation missiles. I attended the school at Mather as a USAF civilian and graduated in February 1972 before returning to my home office in the AIr Force Electronic Warfare Center at Kekky AFB, Texas.
