Interesting reading how he had to hold the coalition together with some very different goals and character. Prepared him to run the country later. Great leader and share COL Lee Flemming

The job needed a politician, not a military genius and Ike was the man for the job. Not a politician like today's smarmy bastards, but a leader who could smooth ruffled feathers, build consensus, and delegate rationally, and who would take responsibility for failure while being generous in sharing praise for success
