Hell must have frozen over because I agree with her. I also think that furlough of congressional salaries is a good idea.

Yawn.

The total wealth of all current members was at least $2.43 billion when the 115th Congress began, 20 percent more than the collective riches of the previous Congress, a significant gain during a period when both the Dow Jones industrial average and Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose slightly less than 10 percent.

We can agree with her, but that doesn't change the fact that the CONSTITUTION explicitly states Congress gets paid (art 1, section 7). Further more, the 27th Amendment prevents the CURRENT congress from changing its OWN pay.

All that said, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is NOT currently a member of Congress, until January 3, 2019, therefore she is pandering.

She is also the one who stated she could not afford to live in DC until she started drawing congressional pay.

Congress gets pay raises periodically unless they explicitly vote against it... i think Clinton signed that one into law... or maybe Carter

Sgt Wayne Wood - They can get a pay raise, but they can't get one while they are currently in office.

So the 116th Congress (the one coming up) can vote on it, but it won't go into effect until the 117th Congress (for the HoR). It's part of the 27th Amendment (ratified in 1992)
