I trust Mattis to make the right decision and balance security and the needs of the armed forces. Anyone already in the program, assuming they serve honorably and meet the requirements of the program should be allowed to go through it fully. The military does not exist to create a path to citizenship for immigrants. If it works out that way , then fine, but let's not confuse a desirable outcome with the mission of the armed forces.

Without a draft creating compulsory service… and many young men (and women) being “snowflakes,” can we afford to turn away qualified bodies?

I trust Mattis, his boss is another matter. Theses people have been part of our Army since people like Pulaski and Von Stuben ,

It reads like the program is really turning into a mess on multiple fronts. Especially with the lawsuits from those that feel something was promised to them. So I agree with getting rid of it. Honestly, we shouldn't have any shortcuts or loop holes to immigration to this country. Everyone should be treated fairly and approach the country on a equal footing as it was in the past. Also, have seen H1B's lying about their educational credentials in the private sector and get away with it. A lot of times a Masters Degree from a University in India does not even meet equivalency to a Bachelors Degree in the United States. So cheating on educational requirements is easily done unless you have strict vetting and someone that understands the various Universities in India and other foreign countries.
