i don't think it's a done deal. the Peshmerga are fighting for THEIR land. the Iraqis just want the oil. the Kurds have proven their mettle. the Iraqis have been measured and found wanting... repeatedly.

Yes, the oil and the million people that live in kirkuk. What's sad is that in 1988, many Kurds fled for their lives from kirkuk and Arab people took over their homes. That area can produce at least a half a million- barrels a day of oil and there's a pipeline from kirkuk that goes to Baghdad. There's a lot of Economics at stake that the weak Iraqi government has not been able to control since 2003 since we invaded. United States Special Forces and the 173rd airborne help take over Northern Iraq with the help of the peshmerga.

The Kurds will take it back... the (Sunni?) Iraqis would rather be under Kurdish control than the Shi’a Central Iraqi Government
