This nation would be a better place if people were free to speak their mind. I am not in the least bit surprised that he could not get a police officer to answer that question. Why? Because that cop is still a cop. He still has to work with other cops. He has to trust his life to them, and they have to trust theirs to him. He is not going to go on a radio show in which a fellow officer could be listening, and admit that the mentality is to protect their own. He can't. If he does, he opens himself up to retaliation.
So I will re-iterate. In a perfect nation he should be able to come out and state his honest opinion after viewing the video without fear of repercussions. Freedom of speech. Freedom to say what we want to say. The caveat to that is that there are always consequences. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but always there. The officer who called in realistically shouldn't have called in. He should have expected that the seemingly baseless nature of the shooting would be addressed. He should have deduced that questions would be asked that he was not willing to answer.

As much as you are correct, that is a dangerous and slipperly slope. We should be free to say what we want, but that right brings other unintended risks with it. I say what I want, and now don't have a job. I say what I want and get my ass kicked, I say what I want, and discover there is a divorce lawyer wanting to talk to be suddenly. There is always going to be consequences to speech, and some know it, others don't care, and others have no idea there are ramifications to deal with.
It was a cop out in the purest sense, but we know the deal. Muslim and quiet on other Muslims committing acts of terror means you condone it. A cop knowing another cop murdered someone, violated their rights, don't make all cops out to be bad. That's even here on RP. I hope one day that will change, but I don't ever plan on hearing it. Even from the cops who are honest as all hell, are determined to make a positive change, they still need to feed the family so quiet is the word of the day.

He's right. I got in a argument with a cop and pretty much said the same thing. When good cops defend bad cops, it taints the good cops in the public's mind.
