Pokemon Go: The latest in the military's mobile game frenzy

The craze surrounding the mobile app game "Pokemon Go" goes on unabated, and the military is no exception. Here is the latest on the frenzy:
1) No offense intended? Someone apparently put a Snorlax — a Pokemon known for sleep and slow movement — in the middle of the Pentagon.
2) The Hill's Kristina Wong reported that there's no Pokemon at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland.
3) The gym at the White House apparently has a patriotic Pokemon.
4) Satire site Duffel Blog predicts the game could be the downfall of the military.

5) Two Marine veterans caught an attempted murder suspect while playing the game.

6) A spokeswoman for the Navy, Lt. Stephanie Ann Homick Turo, told Military Times that "no one has reported any problems with the 'Pokemon Go' app." While there is "no official DoD or Navy guidance on this" yet, several Naval stations are reminding sailors "to be mindful of their surroundings, both from a safety and respectful stand point."
7) Army base Fort Carson in Colorado reminded soldiers not to run onto the flight line.
8) Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, shared a photo from the Army's Facebook page and reminded soldiers to be careful.
9) And yes, people have already stumbled onto military bases — just not in America.

12) Pokemon Go is causing a little controversy in some Middle East nations.
13) Please don't do it.
14) An alternate idea for a ribbon rack.
15) Dover Air Force Base in Delaware told airmen to be mindful of the information they're publishing online.

As my youngest son told me the other day, Pokémon Go is a thinly-disguised ploy to get video gamers exercising SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL and off the couch :-)
Over the past weeks we have seen people driving while playing Pokémon Go [doesn't work because the system tacks your position to where you are sitting to standing and doesn't track vehicle or aircraft movement] and numerous people walking around checking their gaming system.
This reminds me of H.G. Wells Time Machine where people of the future become trained to respond to the sound of air raid siren which gets them to move into the bunkers where some of them are eaten. :-)

I love this game. You find gyms where people gather just to fight at a certain time. Everyone battles as a team. Hopefully you win and get that aggression out of your system. You can either mingle afterwards and talk to people or if not just walk away. No body judges playing this game. All ages are welcomed.
