It is indeed a sad day when young Republicans are so influenced by the decaying morals and attitudes of society that they are adopting more socially liberal policies on LGBT rights, climate change and immigration. I remain concerned when I see the decline in morality (including marriage as defined by God and not society), the following of false premises of man-made "climate change" and the acceptance of the invasion of America by "Illegals" being included in the term "immigration." However, I do have hope in that young Republicans usually as the grow older they come to realize their former false premises, OR are conflicted that they don't call themselves Republicans anymore (often become Independents), or become so-called conservate Democrats with liberal views.

Also, we must note that the article is written by Asma Khalid, a Muslum reporter at NPR who had an internship at BBC Newshour in London during grad school. I reviewed her other articles and they tend to tilt more to a liberal persuation. But, she may be tracking to the left for her articles because she is working for NPR. However, I found her articles well written and concise and wonder what she would reveal if writing for a more conservative publication.

Do you subscribe to the theory that Republican voters must fit a mold? That we have to be anti-LGBT, pro-religion, or anti-immigration?

I agree with this statement: "And Chambers insists a 'true Republican' shouldn't care about same-sex marriage because 'the government shouldn't be so involved in everyone's every day lives.'" This is 100% true.

What are you going to do with a large swath of the population who believes in these principles? Ignore them? Attempt to convert them? If the Republican party doesn't listen, someone will.

As you have stated here, you have your beliefs, but that doesn't make your beliefs paramount.

PO1 (Join to see) - It was an analysis of the article and revealing of the background of the author and her positions. It is good to learn about the source writer of articles especially if they are shared in within a specific discussion group. It was not a judgement of classes of peoples Although I am not in sync with liberals when it comes to politics. I subscibe that Republican voters should be at minimum fiscal conservatives and not anti those who are social conservatives. P.S.: I am pro-immigration as my ansestors can over on a boat and entered the US via Ellis Island. (I was born to into a 100% Irish family but my parents immorality led to bad choices resulted in my eventully being adopted by another family - thus the name Smith) . My problem is not with immigration but it is with ILLEGAL immigration. Being a Keller, were your ancestors Irish, German or ...
