My grandson is 9 now and was 6 in the photo below. I was airborne infantry and his father and his father's father were marines. All of us make sure the boy understands that the real world is not fair and could careless about him. That to get what he wants he has to work hard, accept defeat graciously , then do his best to learn from it. Listen and don't talk when someone is teaching you something unless you don't understand.
He knows to protect the weak from bullies as he is big for his age. To only kill an animal to eat it and never just for fun. If he is grounded from an activity at home ... He is grounded from the same at my house as well. He understands that actions have consequences.
As he grows we will encourage military service of any kind so he can payback the awesome privilege of living in this country, but he will have to make that decision.
I love this boy with all my heart and will do my best to teach him to be his own man and a good man, not a winney snowflake!

People have been forever claiming that the younger generation is somehow ... lesser. If they are needed, we will find they will be there.
