Certainly don't approve of fake news, but it isn't so much fake news as reporting the news in a slanted way. Leaving out the counter to a story and using only what provides validation of what your beliefs are has the same effects. It seems that I recall, important news releases were screened and verified by multiple sources for accuracy. Guess that went away with the buggy whip.

Please. let us look at this with open eyes.
1. "Fake news" is nothing new. Reporting news has been biased since the first man chiseled out the news on a flat stone.
2. Modern day media is a business. Being first means more revenue. So, many times, in the rush to be first, news gets skewered and even falsely reported.
3. All, and I mean ALL, modern news media is biased.

But some in a much narrower context than others. There are actually rules that apply to journalism. Most of the major news outlets follow them. Some do not.....;)

CDR Mike Kovack - Real Journalist do have a code. I just think they have lost their way lately. It almost seems like we live in two realities.

No media outlet, in my opinion, has done very well in the transition from print to online reporting. There is a rush to be 1st in the 24/7 news cycle by all of them, and the problem is that proper journalistic efforts at finding the truth get eroded to get something out there. Couple that with the fact there is a feeling that no one pays attention to the retraction statement a week or so later, and you have effectively set up a machine with no self-regulation. My 2 cents at least...

LT Brad McInnis - Also, on the Internet "news" sites, every Tom, Dick, And Harriet can start their own site, post anything (and everything) and some people will believe it.

I wish the Pope would go back to cleaning his own house instead of criticizing the rest of the world. Some of us haven't forgotten the shell game the Catholic Church played when they shuffled predatory priests to different Churches. Maybe he should focus on culling from within his ranks before lecturing the world on "grave sin".
