I get it. There are a lot of people out there who don't like President Trump. But this is honestly beyond the pale. These young people just wrote each and every one of these fans a blank check that might cost them their lives for eight years, and their response is boos. On September 11th, of all days.
On the bright side, their team lost 6-0.

I always remind people...including soldiers...that the oath is to the office, not the person holding it. And I’ve done so throughout the 4 different Presidential administrations I’ve served under.

1SG (Join to see) - I get it, people don't like the POTUS and they were clearly not booing the recruits directly (but Fox headlines ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), but theres no way those young people on the field would have known that. You hit the nail on the head: "that was not the time, nor the place."

You felt sorry for the "poor Marines" because they "had" to salute Obama, but dont feel bad for those saluting Trump, a man who led the racist conspiracy that our then sitting president was not even legitimately the president because he wasnt even a US citizen? You dont feel bad they have to salute a man who attacked a gold star family and denigrated McCain's service because Trump likes those who dont get captured?

I am appalled by the TOTAL lack of respect for the Office of the President of the USA. I admit there were Presidents I didn’t like, but I respected the office they were elected to. The blatant disrespect for the Commander in Chief is TOTALLY disrespectful!

I can't say that there has ever been a President in my adult lifetime that I completely agreed with, but there has also not been a President I never agreed with.
It didn't matter. My choices were to salute smartly and execute the orders of the President of the United States (the line the fans booed) and the officers appointed over me, or get the hell out of the service.
I chose the former option.
And no matter how much it cost me personally, I wouldn't change a thing.

It amazes me how these people ever made to where they are currently are in life, when an enlistment oath upsets them enough to boo. Hell, I took mine when Carter was in office. As it already has been noted it is the office not the individual in office.
