"Emails were sent to IAVA’s members inviting them to participate in IAVA’s poll on a military parade. The poll was available for 24 hours, from 3 PM on 2/7/18 to 3 PM on 2/8/18. The results represents only data collected from the military and veteran community.
4,615 IAVA veteran members and service members participated in the survey with a 100% completion rate. The margin of error for this poll is +/- 1.4 percentage points at the 95% confidence level."
4,615 in 24hrs hardly gives an accurate estimation across the board.
And as far as anything from Military Times... they've been leaning increasingly left in recent years like Stars and Stripes, so of course a majority of their followers are going to respond negatively to the idea.

Yes, that is our methodology. Given that the average poll of 200 million Americans has a sample size of 1,000 adults, our sample of 4,615 out of 400,000 members is enormous and the reason why it only has a margin of error of only +/- 1.4 percentage points. Who the hell is IAVA? At this point, I'm surprised no one has died from a seizure over this ridiculous amount of pettiness. As for training for "deployments," the deployments now are to Europe and Korea, where all you do is train some more to fight either the Norks or the Ruskies. So please someone explain to me how I have "more important things to do."

a little rhetorical, but, SMs will do what they are told to do, be it go to NTC/JRTC/JRMC or go march in a parade, SMs will complain about doing anything. I am just amazed at how much people are freaking out about a parade and some static displays.... Soldiers will do what they are told to do, just how soldiers got voluntold when the "hey you's came down" for soldiers to go, stand, and listen to President Obama speak. Had to send X amount of soldiers and all they did was complain before and after going.

While we didn't ask why they felt this way, I can tell you that, having discussed this with many servicemembers, the most common response is that the expense of putting on such a parade doesn't make sense when we can't fully fund our current military obligations or pay for their healthcare when they leave the service.

The irony of all of this is, they are upset about a parade, and that's where they draw the line. Not say, 1st BDE 3rd ID being scheduled and doing 2 NTC rotations last year, or the countless examples of fraud, waste, and abuse in the military/government.... it's a parade that everyone is getting upset about and trying to come up with every excuse under the sun for us to not do it.

Funny I don’t remember any one asking me if I wanted to do anything in the Army. I was ordered. I believe if given the choice to not have me or my fellow soldiers deploy to NTC, JRTC, CMTC, Iraq, Afghanistan, EGYPT, Bosnia, Kosovo I would’ve voted no as well.

Why are we laying out the money for this? We cant pay medical costs for veterans that are injured from service. We cant pay health care or fund our current obligations. What does this give us exactly?
