While this may be overturned by the MSPB and would likely also be grudgingly tolerated at a state institution, I wouldn't suggest he try this road at any private institution.

He may have His opinions but when You are part of an establishment of any sort and draw pay from there it is never a good idea to make negative commentary publicly or to those You oversee. The results are predictably never good.

Right after I separated from the AF I went to work for the New Hampshire State Hospital. During our orientation one of the speakers quoted Ben Franklin on employee/employer relations. I don't recall the exact quote (and can't find it online) but the essence was - If a man pays your salary you owe him your labors and support. The day that you can not give him both is the day that you are stealing from him and need to sever your relationship.
I have tried to live by that for the past 40+ years. If I ever found myself not able to fully support my employer with my loyalty and efforts I left. This professor needed to learn that lesson.
