Indians love great dialogues and a good meaningful storyline. Friends was a story of four bachelors who shared a great bond, so it attracted viewers here.

Friends was a show of much ado about nothing, but simply a great bond between friends. In India, a great dialogue in movies and TV serials; a good storyline wins viewership. Friends had such a good dialogue and a nice storyline, so it attracted viewers here in India.

Friends is a rip off of "Living Single."
If anyone didn't see the show: "“Living Single,” which premiered in 1993 on Fox, aired for five seasons and ended in 1998. Starring Queen Latifah (Khadijah), Kim Fields (Regine), Kim Cole (Synclaire), Erika Alexander (Maxine), John Henton (Overton), and TC Carson (Kyle), the series followed six Black 20-somethings as they navigated the ins and outs of living in Brooklyn while occupying the same brownstone. Some fan-favorite moments included Overton and Synclaire's wedding and Maxine's run for a city council."
