That’s for sure... when I was a young guy
Before I joined the AF, I had a Detroit News route and was out gathering more
Customers for my route and I laid it on the line .. no embellishing, I did offer I would make sure they had dry papers.. and I followed through.. if it looked like a possibility, I made sure i plastic bagged ea. Paper. That meant using the wagon. Because I could only get so many in my news bags. I had 150 on my rte and they were explicit, I could use a car but my parent or guardian or other responsible adult-driver had to operate the vehicle.
And inspectors were out there or they asked my consumers to to tell on me.
to avoid any “looking over my shoulder”
I followed the rules. Not even a little
Cheater motor(maybe on windy days).
I was fortunate a surprise didn’t happen..
Anyway I was honest with my customers..
and even though I marked off right then in my book they got a receipt ea. Week that I used a different stamp On the back to avoid counterfeiting by them.. I had on the calendar what stamp I used that week. I had a few I didn’t trust much.. trying to say they paid me and showing a counterfeited /altered receipt .. that’s why I beat them at their game and had my stamp on the back. One guy who didn’t have a regular job(spent his days at the tracks) tried forging my name and I don’t make a cursive T like it’s supposed to be..
“Maybe you forgot”. I actually wanted people that took the paper all week, Sunday onlys we’re fine that’s a big paper
And added more %tage.. Tuesday(race special). Was same as other regular week
Days. Instead of just losing him, I got him to apply for a mailed paper(.25 xtra special charge). I had 2 more I did that to. That way the News didn’t lose them..
By me helping them initiate I got a % -tage Of initiating it and I got it turned in the next day when I went in to get my papers.
In fact my rte started at his house, he was the first and I made sure his paper was as nice dry one. Why he did not take what I did for him in consideration before he tried to cheat me out of that paper’s value. I only got at that time for that paper was about .04 cents out of a .15 cent newspaper.. I took good care of all my customers and they paid more every
Week. Eventually cost of paper went ip and my take to .06 a daily paper.. When I was 16 I had increased readership to 175 clients. And papers were up to ..25 a paper, my take on ea. not much.. I sold the rte.. besides they wanted us to do W-4s so they could tax us like the adult drivers..
I joined AF Reserve that summer on my 17th Birthday. In fact my recruiter was a Reserve Airman(TSGT) full time. I often after getting my rte done with delivery and bill collecting got to go to Selfridge
With him when he went in to do Reserve business (catch-up stuff). He even gave me a personal endorsement for my sign-up , well.. his wife did. But to me it was as good as coming from him. He asked me later if his being on my rte and taking me to Selfridge influenced my signing up. I said “honestly I had intentions to anyway, but you helped me even more to join the
Best AF (Reserve ) in the world, TSGT Wilson !” I got to get on and do some

MSgt Cayle Harris Given enough time and raw data, I can put together a statistic that Hitler was a great humanitarian. Three ways to do research. 1) take the raw data, and publish the results as they are whether they prove or disprove one's theory. 2) Take the raw data, remove the data that doesn't support one's theory, and then publish a finding that supports one theory 3) Keep diluting the data until the numbers match what one needs to support the theory. Problem is while the first option is the most ethical way, it is also the worst way when funding is on the line. Nobody wants to fund a study that goes against their viewpoint. This is a case where manipulation of the data shows a hazard that exists mostly on paper. As a gun owner, it is my responsibility to make sure it is stored in a safe manner. There is no one size fits all for this. I live in a house with my two adult children right now. I do not need to store my firearm on a high shelf with the ammunition stored on a high shelf in another room so that my kids don't find it. A person with young children needs to take steps to make sure that the children don't accidentally injure themselves with the weapon. Above all that, teaching children about firearms safety at a young age, and continuing to drill it into their heads until it is second nature is not a bad thing. It is another thing I see gun control fans freak out about. "How can you in good conscience let a child handle a gun?" Answer is simple, I want them to know about gun safety, I want them to know that a firearm is not a toy, and I want to take the mystery of guns away so that they don't go looking for the gun when I am not around.

PO3 Steven Sherrill Definitely. I have spent a lot of time with my kids talking about and practising firearms safety and handling. My kids call it the "Other" talk.
