"other nations"? How about "another nation." Ukraine is not a NATO nation and thus Hungary is not required to assist them per Article 5. Now, we may not agree with Hungary's position here, but they are entitled to it. If Russia were to march into a NATO nation, then by all means, Hungary would be expected to assist NATO. However, the issues with Hungary and Ukraine are far more complex than alluded to in this simplistic article. First of all, Hungary has been involved in supporting Ukraine up to this point, and have only just articulated there is not much of a point in it. Also, maybe there is some measure of friendship between them and Putin, but not as much as this article implies. There is an ethnic perspective involved here too. One which we Americans cannot fully understand or appreciate. I've personally worked with the Hungarians in Afghanistan performing the air advisory mission to the Afghan Air Force. Great people, but they did things differently than us, as they are a different nation with different perspectives. In the end, this is a country which is much closer to this fight and has far more to lose in the more immediate future in that region than we do. We need to put that into context before criticizing them for their decisions.
