Alarmist but not nearly as bad as the conservationists would like US to believe. This issue seems to have popped up on public radio in recent days and this piece and others like it are being hyped in a number of locations. Gobbling up terminology is alarmist and misleading. Of course sawmills and paper plants gobble up wood. The piece could be interpreted to say we will run out of this type of tree or otherwise endanger habitat, cause floods, etc etc. Not so say the facts, just more from our Liberalista friends to muddy the waters. Robert Reich would probably have plenty to say on this topic!!

Capt Tom Brown Did You Listen to the Audio File? It didn't Sound Alarmist To me. Sounded More Like a Recruiting Tool for folks to Join the Industry down in Arkansas. Of Course I am a "Liberal" and not Really thrilled with "Burning" any form of Carbon but If You View this as a "Hit Piece" I Wonder Capt'n.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - Yes I did listen to the audio and was surprised to find out that wood pellets produce as much CO2 when burned than coal. (I didn't know that). That is interesting to say the least. Whether or not harvesting wood for wood pellet production deplets or seriously damages the environment is up for debate. The term gobbling up forests, to me, still is alarmist and misleading... We have plenty of eco-warriors around here who are battling to save the planet from various things. Jokingly called 'tree huggers'.
