The RSO on this flight was Joe Vida, one of many who transitioned from the FB-111 to the SR-71, we were a bit of a pipeline into the SR program. Joe and I flew 111 sorties together several times before he transitioned to the SR.

SGT Steve McFarland Something I forgot. Back when they were trying to sell this as the A-12 the claim was that a flight of them based in Texas could intercept incoming Soviet aircraft before a flight of interceptors based in Alaska.
