Men are treated far more poorly than women are at Parris Island. The Marine Corps needs to worry about recruiting people that can put rounds on the target and vanquish the enemy. All the other chatter is warm air over the vocal chords that will do little to prepare Marines to win battles.

After spending 47 months on the street recruiting, I think it is funny the recruiter gets blamed for a woman not cutting it a recruit training. Let me see... Recruiter finds a qualified recruit and ships them to recruit training. Drill instructor teaches recruit how to be a Marine. Female fails to learn, has no self fortitude, female goes home; sounds like a personnel issue!

MGySgt Rick Tyrrell Rick, I know things are very different today than when I enlisted (1980) but my son enlisted more recently (2010). They were almost required to show up to regular PT sessions with the recruiters locally to help get/keep them ready. This was for men and women. Do you think it might just be that the Marine Corps is not what many women that enlist think it is and they end up not adapting? It really isn't an environment most women like/prefer. You want to be a Marine, be prepared to do Marine things. It isn't just a cool uniform and parades.

We always try to blame someone other than the non hacking individual. It must be the recruiters or the Drill Instructors or the training is too hard etc. If they cannot cut basic training (and it is easier today than in decades past) why would we want them in the Marine Corps anyway?

It takes all kind of people male/female to put rounds on target. It is important to understand that even in the times we are in everyone has a place at the table in the military.

Cpl Jeff N. - Actually I came in in 1981. The reason they do the PT is to keep them motivated in the pool program and teach them history, traditions and they also do other events to keep there interest up before recruit training.

The NFL doesn't have to lower standards. Why should the Marine Corp?
IMO, women are not naturally mean enough like young men to be in Victor units.
That does not mean, I do not support women in the military.
