Interesting Reddit idea that turned into a social experiment. There was a canvas where everyone can draw on, one pixel at a time for three days.
Outside the obvious question of why anyone would bother, a larger social experience emerged as people formed groups to "draw" on the canvas. What I found most interesting was something that I've known but don't always think about consciously. Some level of destruction and strife is good. It cleans out the old, gets people thinking about new and better things and sometimes brings people together to deal with a common threat. The strife may or may not take the form of war, it just might be a new product disrupting an established value chain.
Edit to add: It was interesting that the idea they came up with to stop the people destroying everything was the American Flag. People were willing to band together to protect that.
