I always make it a point to try and tell every Vietnam vet I come across "Welcome home." They didn't receive a proper welcome home back then, but it our responsibly as Americans and human beings to ensure that those who put their life on the line such as they did, to render a proper welcome that they so rightly deserve.

Welcome home to all you Vietnam vets.

I was at a rest stop on I-15 in Utah about 2 years back. I was in my duty uniform walking back to my vehicle when this Vietnam Vet thanked me for my service. I said, "Nah, thank you for yours. Y'all got treated like crap. Welcome home." We had a great 20 minute conversation and parted ways after a hand shake.

Just had this conversation with a Vietnam Vet last night. I saw his cap and thanked him, and welcomed him home. He said "It wasn't like that when we came home". I told him we had tried to make it better than it was. He seems lost in thought.
