Member of Congress Doug Lamborn, representing Colorado's 5th District discusses legislation he introduced in Congress to support updates to Chaplains Hill at Arlington National Cemetery, and a Post Office to honor Chaplain Dale Goetz who died in service in Afghanistan is a guest of Ken Kraetzer on Sons of the American Legion Radio.
Rep. Lamborn describes House Resolution 4365 the Chaplains Memorial Preservation Act that is cosponsored by Rep. Vicki Hertzler of Missouri and Rep Bill Keating of Massachusetts. The legislation will authorize the National Conference on Ministry to the Armed Forces to update Chaplains Hill to add the names of 25 chaplains to the Protestant Chaplains Monument add one name to the Catholic Chaplains Memorial and to make other improvements to the memorial.
On of the Chaplains proposed to be honored on Chaplains Hill is Chaplains Dale Goetz who died from a bombing while in service in Afghanistan. Rep. Lanhorn has arranged for the Briargate Post Ofice in Colorado Springs to be named in his memory. The dedication ceremony is planned forJuly 23rd.
