I'm wondering who would actually agree with this? You do realize that a lot of Vets rely on the VA for additional help and support with their PCM isn't able to extend any other additional help? If I was a nurse or a PA, I would definitely try to work at a VA; yes some Vets are down on their luck based on health but still, being there for them as an ear is enough to satisfy some.
I hope that nothing comes of this and things remain the same. They have already tried to neuter the Navy with removing rates, and won even with retaliation from over 100,000 Sailors.

PO1 (Join to see), I'm 100% disabled. I can't get any insurance company to give me any type of health insurance or life insurance. When they find out I tried suicide twice, they won't even answer their phones when I call. So, I depend totally on the VA for everything. Even if I had not tried suicide, we couldn't afford to buy health insurance. Maybe a small amount of life insurance. We're in our 70's and it costs so much, you'd have to have more money than we do. When I go, all I can leave for wife are memories and a VA 10K insurance policy. I hope nothing comes of it too. Most vets returning to civilian life don't have a pot to pee in, or a window to throw it out of, so I don't know how the will be able to buy their own insurance

I like the idea that the government should just give us a stipend to cover all of our medical services through outside treatment because it is obvious the VA system is still fucked. Seriously one of our politicians here in Washington State says they have helped get VA offices in less populated areas and what they did was outsource the clinic to another company to run it. So when you ask for something from them they say oh wait I have to find out if I can give that to you. So a week later you get your answer. Or if you seek PTSD treatment good luck.

yes...... yes make our already poorly paid soldiers pay for health insurance that doesn't work... damn VA this could kill more veterans than it will help

Agreed. Private insurance is already expensive in the civilian sector, so that can't possibly be the answer for Veterans. The Affordable Care Act made sure to hike up the premiums even more and already changed things within TriCare.
