Researchers Figure Out How To Break Spaghetti Into Only 2 Pieces

So tell me, who commits the crime against nature of breaking spaghetti by breaking one strand at a time? I used to mourn inwardly when my mother grabbed a pound of spaghetti and broke it in half over the boiling water (with a little olive oil added).
The only proper approach is to stand that pound of spaghetti on end in the center of the pot of boiling water and let go like playing jack straws. Then you spoon hot water over the outside strands until the bottoms soften and all the spaghetti is under water.
