I actually saw one of his concerts back in about 1964. His drummer wanted to to take my sister out after the concert but my dad insisted I chaperone them. Roy Orbison and his bride (Her name may have been Claudette, but CRS has me) agreed because my sister was only 17. So the five of us went to Denney's and spent a couple of hours BSing and having breakfast. Mr. & Mrs. Orbison were very nice and home-spun folks. I don't remember the drummer at all, other than he didn't get to spend one second with my sister without three sets of eyeballs watching his every move.

"Only the lonely"
Only the lonely (dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah)
Know the way I feel tonight (ooh-yay-yay-yay-yeah)
Only the lonely (dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah)
Know this feeling ain't right (dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah)
There goes my baby
There goes my heart
They're gone forever
So far apart
But only the lonely
Know why
I cry
Only the lonely
Only the lonely (dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah)
Know the way I feel tonight (ooh-yay-yay-yay-yeah)
Only the lonely (dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah)
Know this feeling ain't right (dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah)
There goes my baby
There goes my heart
They're gone forever
So far apart
But only the lonely
Know why
I cry
Only the lonely

SGT (Join to see) - And he could put so much emotion into his words. One more comment of having breakfast with the Orbisons. Not one person recognized him. We had breakfast and chatted undisturbed by anyone else. But he wore regular prescription glasses, not his trademark smoked glasses. He did leave a nice tip because we stayed so long -- I think it was at least 50% of the bill.
